Launch of MovingLight Art at the Barbican May 2014

Innovative major 'moving light art' installation to be unveiled at the Barbican 31st May from 5-11pm to launch MovingLightArt and support the landmark concert celebrating the centenary of Sun Ra, the great Jazz musician's birth.

Artist Lorna Carmen McNeill and Geoff Blindt of Mystic Lights are unveiling their long awaited major light art installation to launch their collaborative immersive arts venture – MovingLightArt. This will be in the main foyer at The Barbican in front of the ticket office to support the landmark concert celebrating the centenary of Sun Ra’s birth. Sun Ra was one of the greatest and least known jazz artists of the last four decades. Composer, bandleader, pianist, poet and Afro-Futurist philosopher, he founded his Arkestra to take jazz into unexplored territories.

For one night only at the Barbican the installation showcases an innovative fusion of sculpture, painting, kinetics, light technology, digital photography and motion projection. The result is an immersive light and colour experience combining evocative sculptural forms and projection, resulting in a continuously changing kinetic light show installation. This launch event is in the foyer on 31st May only and will last between 5pm and 11pm.
